Wait on The Lord

I had an ah-ah moment last night that I wanted to share in case it helps you. Sox, my 17-year-old cat, was drinking some water. However, the bowl was almost empty, and I knew it had been down for a few hours, so I picked it up from under him to freshen it up. Now Sox – he sat and patiently waited – knowing I would bring it back. Now his brother Patches never learned this lesson. We lost him last year, but I remember – if I picked up the water bowl he would look at me and then run off. He wouldn’t wait… It hit me that God had a lesson in this for me… How often do I start to do something or start to go after something and God takes it away? How often do we pitch a fit and run away in snit instead of waiting patiently for his timing…? See when God takes something away it is only because has something else for us. He is trying to teach us, he is trying to grow us, or maybe he is just trying to refresh our water cup… Maybe we are drinking from the wrong source for that day or moment. Sox, knows, I am going to put something down better than what he had… I need to learn that God is going to put something down better for me than what I had or what I was pursuing. I say to myself, “The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.” Laminations 3:24
