Italy Day 6

This morning we checked out of our hotel, grabbed breakfast, and headed to the quaint beautiful village of Positano.  It was about an hour and a half away and the drive up was so pretty -the road hugs the mountainside and on the other are sheer drops to the sea.   We were in a little minibus but still, it was tight in areas with drivers being nice (imagine) and letting each other pass.

The temps have dropped dramatically so Mama is able to actually enjoy it.   The group did a walk down to the beach when we got there but the incline was steep and I really wanted to look at the quaint shops so we stayed up and did that - meandered around, took pics of the village, and just enjoyed the morning.  I got a few souvenirs, Jack got a piece of luggage to hold the souvenirs and it was a great day.

At one point Mama sat on a bench while we shopped.   A lady from England sat next to her, ginger at that, and they just chatted like they knew each other forever.  I kept peeking over to check on her and she was just chatting away :)

Towards the end of our visit, it started raining.  I bought a 5 Euro umbrella because ours were on the bus and we headed back to meet with our group.

Once joined up we rode back to the hotel to meet up with the few that didn't go with us, swapped to the large bus, and headed to Bari.    A 4-hour bus drive...  It was long but pleasant as we watched the scenery and naped.   We stopped along the way at a gas station and grabbed a sandwich - it was a madhouse to order so I left Jack to handle and went and grabbed a table.   The bread was hard and not that great but it filled us up so hey, can't complain.

We are now in Bari and we are only here one night and about to go on an excursion so I'll check in later :)

Part 2

Well, that was nice.  The town we went to is Polignano A Mare and it's this cute little fishing village by the sea.   It is medieval style with stone construction and it literally comes right up out of the cliffs.  It is so cool.   The style and painting really reminded me of Greece.   Our guide, Nicholas took us down to the cliff area with these dramatic lovely views.   We went to three different viewing spots and each was spectacular in its own way.   We then meandered around the streets and just enjoyed our time.

We ate at a restaurant across the way he recommended and I kinda wish we would have just eaten next to the cliffs at the expensive restaurant, but it was ok.   After dinner we grabbed a gelato - I had a milk chocolate kinda flavor that had nuts in it.  It was so good - While eating the ice cream we just sat on a bench and enjoyed the night.   The excursion was well worth it - I thoroughly enjoyed the evening and the temperature is so much nicer!

Now we are getting ready for bed.   We start later tomorrow - 8:30 and I'm so grateful.   Sleep well dear friends.
